Hunterston plant is most objected-to plan ever
18 OctoberThe planned coal-fired power station at Hunterston received more objections than any other development in Scottish planning history.
More than 20,000 people have signed a petition to stop the plant, with a large proportion of the signatories living locally. You can read more about this from the Press Association here.
North Ayrshire Council will hear views from objectors and the applicant this coming Monday (October 24) with its decision expected to be submitted to the Scottish Government on Wednesday, November 9.
A legal challenge to the plan by environmental groups has already failed - see:

Local people hit out on s1fairlie at that news.
Daniel Kerr said: "So much for Alex Salmond and his green credentials I knew it was to good to last. Give time time and we will see the real Alex Salmond In the pockets of the multi nationals."
Patricia Peters said: "I think this is an infringement of Human Rights. What about our right to breathe clean air? Could this matter be taken to the European Courts?"
However, HeraldScotland has reported that experts believe the station will not be built, even if it is approved, because new regulations over coal burning would make in uneconomical.
