Have your say at Power Station public meeting

Fairlie residents can hear views and have their say at a public meeting about the proposed coal fired power station which is being held on Monday 28th June at 7.45pm in West Kilbride Village Hall.

There will be several speakers - RSPB, Dr Mandy Meikle + local residents from Largs, Fairlie & West Kilbride Additional Speakers being arranged : on energy issues and health impact of coal.

Ayrshire Power are being invited but from their comments about public meetings we think that they will probably not attend. Stalls expected from WDM scotland, RSPB, Friends of Earth Scotland, CONCH, Heal the Earth Ayrshire, Coal Action Scotland and Scots Wildlife Trust.

CONCH is preparing a sample letter of objection which members of the public can use as a basis for their objections.

Ray and I have written to the Rt.Hon Alex Salmond, Katy Clark and sent a copy to the Prime Minister regarding our views on Ayrshire Power.  We very strongly object to the building of a Coal Power Station.  This is not needed.  It was brought to my attention the other day that a Wind farm is being established just above Fairlie on the Kelburn Estate which is supposed to give electricity to 11,000 homes in the area, so why need a power station as well, which is dirty, and will cause ill health to people and wildlife in the area.
