Fairlie suffers floods but is it now to expect snow?
Severe weather over the last few days has put Fairlie in deep water and conditions are now expected to turn Arctic.
On Tuesday (November 29) of this week, s1fairlie reported that heavy rain and wind had caused roads to close – and forced Fairlie Primary to shut for the day.
The Largs and Millport Weekly News has since told of the extent of Tuesday’s floods, which saw the local petrol station gushing water.
Fairlie resident, Jane Thomas, told the paper: “I was turned back towards Largs, just south of West Kilbride on the A78 – a huge pool of water across the road there.”
Another driver, Elizabeth McKay, described it as the worst flooding she had ever seen.
She said: “Torrents of water were causing havoc in Fairlie."
However, all that rain is expected to freeze as the Met Office has now issued a “be aware” yellow warning of snow for Sunday and Monday.
They predict that around 1-3cm of snow is possible on low areas and more than 10cm in higher places.
