Celebrate Fairlie Fairtrade Fortnight from Monday 22nd February to Sunday 7th March
17 FebruaryScotland's First Fairtrade Village is celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight from Monday 22nd February to Sunday 7th March. As ever, Fairlie Fairtrade Initiative will be holding various events during the Fairtrade Fortnight.
On Sunday 28 February 4 - 7pm in the 'Lounge' in Largs the Initiative presents 'Finest Fairtrade Accessories from Travels Afar!' Add a little Fairtrade chic to your wardrobe. Relax with a glass of Fairtrade wine as you browse and buy! Seven different companies will be selling their Fairtrade bits and bobs, bangles, bags, scarves and jewellery.
On Saturday 6 March 2-4pm in Fairlie Parish Church it's time for 'Afternoon Cream Tea' - the Big Swap! Taste and try a range of delicious refreshing Fairtrade teas - complimented by creamy, jammy scones donated by some of Fairlie's best bakers! The theme of Fairtrade Fortnight this year is to encourage people to swap their usual brand of tea, coffee, chocolate, sugar, marmalade muesli..... for a delicious Fairtrade one - and stick with it!
Our other local info is that we have just received our certificate confirming the renewal of our Fairtrade Village award. At our AGM we celebrated, with a group of over 20 supporters, our 5th Anniversary as Scotland's First Fairtrade Village.
We have a few remaining 5th Anniversary calendars going for half-price £2.50. The calendar is packed full of Fairlie folk with Fairtrade information and delicious Fairtrade recipes. You can purchase direct from Ailsa Henderson by calling 01475 568687.
